Are you excited?

Acts 1: 10-11 - 10 They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. 11 “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back

Revelation 1:7-8 - 7 “Look, he is coming with the clouds,” and “every eye will see him, even those who pierced him”; and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.” So shall it be! Amen. 8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Revelations 22: 20 He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.”

One thing we believe as children of God is that Jesus will return one day to fetch His children to be with Him in heaven. What an exciting prospect! We will be taken away from this earth with all its problems, persecution, heartache, tears and the ungodly acts of people. We will be with Him in heaven. No tears, no heartache. Glorious peace and the worshipping of God with the angels and other children of God.

The real question is:

Are you excited or do you fear the coming of the Lord?

Philippians 2:9-11 - 9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

The real fact is that when Jesus comes again, every knee will bow to Him. Either in fear or in jubilation. Fear for those that rejected His saving grace or great joy for those that are His children.

Although the second coming is a Mistry as what it would be like, we should be excited. It should be like waiting at a concert for your favorite singer to arrive. With an anticipation that makes you a little impatient to see him/her NOW.

If you fear the coming of Jesus, you have to ask yourself why? Is it maybe that you are not ready to meet Jesus? Have you rejected His saving grace? Or is your life not holy and dedicated to the Lord.

Fortunately there is still time to rectify the situation. There is still time to accept His saving grace. It is a simple process:

Revelation 3:20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.

· Acknowledge that you have been born into sin. Romans 3:22-24 - 22 This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

· Acknowledge that you cannot save yourself. You cannot pay your way to heaven. It is a gift from God. Ephesians 2:8-9 - 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

· Acknowledge that Jesus is the Son of God. That He left His place of glory to become a man. That He shed His blood on the cross to pay for your sins. That He then gives you eternal life as a gift.

· Repent of your sins and make the decision to turn your back to your sinful life. Mark 6:12 They went out and preached that people should repent. Luke 5:31-33 - 31 Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” Luke 13:5 - But unless you repent, you too will all perish.

· Through faith accept this gift from Him. John 6:47 - 47 Very truly I tell you, the one who believes has eternal life.

· Thank Him that you are now a child of God. 1 John 3:1-3 - 3 See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 2 Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. 3 All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.

· Go and sin no more.

What should we be busy with until the Lord comes?

One of the things we must not do is to sit around, do nothing and wait for the Lord to come. This has happened many times in history. We don’t know the time, not even Jesus. Only the father knows.

Matthew 24:45-47 - 45 “Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time? 46 It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns. 47 Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions.

Yes we should be working. We must do what God has called us to do. Whether a ministry, witnessing or even working at your daily job.

Luke 12:35-37 - 35 “Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, 36 like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him. 37 It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes. Truly I tell you, he will dress himself to serve, will have them recline at the table and will come and wait on them.

When the boss is away, the mice are at play. That is a saying that is so true. Many people, when the boss is away for an unknown period as his return is not known, involve themselves in things that they should not be doing. When the boss suddenly returns they want to shut off their computer so that boss does not see what they are busy with.

Children of God, although we expect Jesus to come soon, need to be busy what they have been called to do. If the boss suddenly returns un-expectantly, it does not matter. They don’t have to hide what they are doing as they are busy with what they were called to do.

The Lord’s return may be ominous. Matthew 24:29 “Immediately after the distress of those days “‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’

But

Matthew 224:30-32 - 30 “Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth[b] will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. 31 And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.

He is coming to fetch His children! Praise God! Be excited! Wait expectantly every moment of the day!
